Michael HendersonMA, MB, BCh
Dr Michael Henderson is a doctor of medicine and a graduate of Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He has spent his entire professional life in aviation, road and motor sport safety research and administration. He was author in 1968 of the seminal book “Motor Racing in Safety” and was one of the designers of the pioneering race safety concept car, the Pininfarina/Ferrari Sigma Grand Prix. He was the originator of the six-point race harness and a pioneer in the use of seat belts in racing cars. In 2007 Dr Henderson was elected a Fellow of the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Sustainability.
Dr Henderson began circuit racing in Europe in 1960, and has competed since then at national and international level in a wide variety of formula, sports and sedan cars. He still races successfully in one of his significant historic formula and sports racing cars and is an acknowledged expert on the history of safety developments in motor sport. He has lived in Sydney, Australia, since 1968.
He is a past Director of Traffic Safety in New South Wales and established Crashlab, the first government road crash research unit and test laboratory in Australia. He was Chairman of the Australian Government’s Advisory Committee on Road Trauma, and is the author of around 100 research papers on road safety and an award-winning book on the analysis and perception of risk.
In addition to his position as a Fellow of the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety, Dr Henderson is also a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine (AAAM), and the Australasian College of Road Safety. In 2004 he was awarded Life Membership of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS).
In 2007 Dr Henderson became the inaugural Chairman of the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety, and is currently leading its expanding research and educational activities.

Mark LarkhamMark Larkham has had a successful career as a driver and team owner. His participation as a race driver at Nationallevel competition spans 20 years, having won races, pole positions and lap records in each of the categories in which he competed – Formula Ford, Formula Holden and V8 supercars. Mark has operated as both driver and team owner during his career, with responsibility for racing/technical and commercial/sponsorship operations. After winning the Australian Formula Ford Championship and being runnerup twice to Mark Skaife in the Australian Drivers’ Championship for the CAMS Gold Star, Mark entered touring cars in 1995 and became a foundation member of AVESCO/V8 Supercars Australia and TEGA (Touting Car Entrants Group Australia). Mark was elected to the Board of Directors of TEGA, and Board of Directors AVESCO/V8 Supercars Australia and served eight terms during 1998-2006. He considers he has been fortunate to have participated heavily in the growth years of V8 Supercars across sporting, technical, regulatory, safety, commercial, media and marketing matters. Mark retired from full-time driving in 2004 and sold his V8 Supercar team in 2006 to fulfil a long-held family ambition of setting up a modest cattle stud operation before exploring other opportunities within the sport, which includes accepting the position of Director of AIMSS.

Allan MoffatOBE Allan Moffat is well known as one of Australia’s leading professional racing drivers, particularly as a multiple Sandown and four-time Bathurst winner. He was Australian Touring Car Champion in 1973, 1976, 1977 and 1983 and won other category Australian Championships in 1976, 1980, 1983 and 1984. Internationally, Allan won the Sebring Florida 12 Hour Race in 1975, the Wellington 500 in 1986 and 1987, the Monza 500 in 1987 and the Fuji 500 in 1989. He also competed with distinction as a class winner in the 24 hour races at Le Mans (1982), Daytona (1982) and Spa (1987) and was third in the 1989 Macau Grand Prix Race of Champions. Although Allan’s racing achievements are impressive, the award of the OBE for Exceptional Services to Motorsport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 1978 is a fitting reward for his contribution to the sport. His involvement in television commentary has added to the credibility and profile of motor sport. He continues his involvement in the role of Director of AIMSS.

Andrew PapadopoulosBA (Econ), Dip Marketing, Dip Business Studies, MAICD Andrew Papadopoulos attained his Marketing and Business Studies qualifications while in London in the early 1970s. He returned to Sydney to complete his Economics Degree at Macquarie University. Andrew was employed in marketing in London and, on his arrival home, spent three years in the public service. In 1985 he started and developed his own business of pallet manufacturing, recycling, repairing and marketing, which is in its 22nd year of operation. He is a Board member and Vice-President of CAMS and holds the same positions with the Australian Racing Drivers Club, together with being a Life Member of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of Australia. Andrew has been involved in motor sport for over 30 years as a competitor in Classic Rallying and is current competitor on the circuit in his Alfa sports sedan. All of the Papadopoulos family are involved in motor sport with wife, Janice, an organiser and senior official, son, Mark, a sports sedan competitor and other son, Christopher, an F1 engineer in the UK.

R.S. (Bob) GlindemannMAICD, MAIE Bob Glindemann had over 41 years with Shell, with extensive experience in logistics, supply chain and all aspects of marketing and sales in industrial, agricultural, mining and manufacturing markets. Roles over that time covered Australia, New Zealand, Global and Regional Leadership with his final appointment being Managing Director - Commercial Oceania. After retirement from Shell in 2001, Bob was the Principal of PRO:NED Vic Pty Ltd until 2006. Currently he is Deputy Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Navy Health Limited and Vice-President and Director of Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. Bob has been a Rotarian for over 32 years with the Rotary Clubs of Darwin, Brisbane Metropolitan, Adelaide, French’s Forest, Sydney and Melbourne. He is a past President of Darwin and Melbourne. His current community interests include being Chairman of the Rotary Club of Melbourne East Timor Committee, Director of the Australian Embassy for Timor Leste Fund and Deputy Chairman of Very Special Kids Foundation. |

Garry ConnellyBA, Dip Ed, Dip AII, MAICD Garry Connelly is a graduate of Sydney University with majors in Maths and Psychology. He competed in motor sport at all levels from 1968 until 1988. In 1988 Garry secured for Australia a round of the FIA World Rally Championship and served as the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Board member and Clerk of Course of Rally Australia until December 2002. He was Chairman of the Australian Rally Commission from 1995 until 2006. His current involvement in motor sport includes being a Member of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, Member of the FIA World Rally Championship Promotions Working Group and Organisers Working Group, Delegate for Australia to the FIA, Senior adviser to Rally Japan WRC event, FIA Steward at Formula One events, World Touring Car Championship events and FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship Events and FIA Observer at WRC events. His service to motor sport was honoured with CAMS Membership of Honour in 1993. Garry is also Chairman and Non-Executive Director of WB Financial Management, a national financial services company with operations in five states and is Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the MIA group of companies operating in Europe, Australia and the USA. He also holds a number of other company directorships. |

Professor Jack McLeanFTSE, BE, ME (Adelaide), MSc, PhD (Harvard)
Jack McLean is a Professorial Research Fellow in the Centre for Automotive Safety Research at the University of Adelaide, where he was the Director for 34 years. A mechanical engineer with a doctorate in epidemiology he has established and directed research in brain injury biomechanics in fatal road crashes and an ongoing program of at-scene crash investigation, among other research programs. A Past President of the International Council on Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic Safety, he is also a member of the International Research Council on the Biomechanics of Impact. In decades past Jack has held Auto Cycle Council of Australia and CAMS competition licences, finishing third of 20 starters in an overnight trial in the fifth XK120 ever built. More recently he has been the mechanic for one of his sons who came fourth in his class in an AIDKA Australian Championship for dirt karts |
